Five days in Malta in December, for two.
Thursday 17 December to Monday 21 December · balanced pace
A real plan from our planner, made for a couple staying in Sliema who like history, food and nature, getting around by bus, ferry and taxi at a steady pace. Every stop and meal below came out of the planner for these dates, and none was moved by hand. This plan stays on Malta, so Gozo and Comino are not in it.
Your Thursday, 17 December, begins with the flight landing, bags and the transfer, and then the first stop is where the day genuinely starts. Your bags go to the accommodation first, with no check-in yet, so you can head straight out onto the Sliema front. The walk, the coffee and the bay give you a gentle introduction to the town and the harbour, with the day easing into evening.

About 15 min to the next stop
Allow about an hour for the walk at an easy pace. It is open at all times, so there is no rush to fit it around anything.
You arrive with a flat, easy walk ahead: the Sliema front is wide and paved, and it gives you an unhurried first look at how Maltese people spend their days by the sea.
About 22 min by bus to the next stop
Bisazza Street is where Sliema's shops and cafés cluster, so you can settle in with a coffee and watch the town go about its afternoon.
Spinola Bay is a small harbour with luzzu fishing boats moored beside restaurant terraces and the Love Monument sculpture, a good first taste of Malta's maritime character.
